Kurzfassung auf Deutsch
Mit großer Skepsis werden in Polen die Diskussionen zum Thema "Kerneuropa" aufgenommen. Das Land fürchtet, an den Rand gedrängt zu werden, sollte ein innerer Kreis in der EU, eine "Union in der Union", entstehen. Deutschland hat mehrfach die Idee eines Kerneuropa unterstützt. Ein deutsch-polnischer Austausch zu Inhalten und Perspektiven eines solchen Kerns könnte darum polnische Befürchtungen abbauen.

Poland is skeptical about the idea of a "core Europe". The country fears to get relegated to the fringes of European integration if an inner circle of the EU, a "Union in the Union", was to emerge. By starting a bilateral dialogue on the content and the perspectives of a "core Europe", Germany – which at various occasions has supported the idea of a core Europe – might be able to reduce Polish fears.
